Jane Cohick Rummings, a dedicated teacher, successful businesswoman and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on Jan. 16, 2025, in Connecticut, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 88 years old.
Jane’s family and friends will remember her sharp wit, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Born and raised in Salladasburg, Pa., Jane was the youngest daughter of Beulah Welker Cohick and Melvin “Jake” Cohick. She graduated from Jersey Shore High School and continued her education at Lycoming College. A passionate educator, Jane taught French and English at Lycoming College, Williamsport High School and her alma mater, Jersey Shore High School.
Jane made the decision to leave teaching and take the helm of her family’s meat business, Cohick Brothers. For more than two decades, she successfully ran the company, leaving behind a great legacy.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband and lifelong partner of 69 years, Pete Rummings. She also leaves behind her daughter, Amanda Tiernan, and granddaughter, Charley Tiernan. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Cohick Logue.
In her later years, Jane retired to Connecticut, where she helped raise her granddaughter, Charley. A devoted mentor, Jane was instrumental in fostering Charley’s passion for music, guiding her to embark on a flourishing music career as CHARLEY T.
A memorial service will be held at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. The family requests donations to Orchard House in Branford, Conn. (www.theorchardhouse.org), a day center for those suffering from dementia.
