Walter G. Miller, Sr., of Lamar, and a former resident of Marsh Creek, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 at UPMC Susquehanna in Williamsport.
He was born July 31, 1939 in Lock Haven, a son of Verna (Miller) Donahay. He was raised by his grandparents Walter and Mary Miller, of Fishing Creek.
Walter was married to the former Alma M. Walizer on May 12, 1956. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together.
He worked for Jersey Shore Steel as a machinist for 37 years, retiring in 2002.
Walter enjoyed farming, tinkering and he could fix anything. If he couldn't fix it, he would build it new.
Surviving are his loving wife; four sons, Gary (Judy) Miller, of Driftwood, James (Gregg) Miller, of Enola, Rick (Sherry) Miller, of Clintondale and Charlie Miller, of Carlisle; two daughters, Bonnie Young, of Beech Creek and Sherry (Lynn) Bartholomew, of Mill Hall; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Stanley Donahay, of Blanchard, and William (Nancy) Donahay, of Beech Creek; and two sisters, Sharon (Kevin) Schrack, of Clintondale, and Donna (Terry), Wenker of Lock Haven.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty J. Donahay, and a great grandson, Alex Young.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Pastor Dan Longmore officiating.
Friends and relatives will be received from 13 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
