Charles Harry Welshans, 75, of Avis, was surrounded by his family when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 2, 2025, where he was reunited with his wife of 50 years, Candace Henry Welshans.
Charles was the son of the late Phyllis Fulkrod Welshans and Charles Newton Welshans.
Charles was a 1967 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam from May 1968 until January 1971.
Charles retired from Textron Lycoming (formerly Avco) where he worked for his entire career lovingly supporting his family.
Charles was a member of the Avis Recreation serving in all capacities to help the local community. He coached Pop Warner football and coached Jr. league baseball in Avis before, during and after his son played the game.
Charles enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his friends on the many winding roads of Pennsylvania. He made an impact on his community, friends and family. Charles was an honest and hardworking man, an amazing father and a loving grandfather.
Charles is survived by his children, Ivey Welshans, of Philadelphia, and Tyson Welshans (Tonya), of Jersey Shore; grandchildren, Riley and Grace Welshans, of Jersey Shore; and an honorary grandchild, Levon Gropman, of Maine; brothers, Steve Welshans, John Welshans and Lee Welshans; sisters, Kay Heggenstaller and Judith Sines; and a brother-in-law, Wylie L. Henry, of California.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Diane Apker and Lori Guthrie; and a brother, Byron Welshans; parent-in-laws, Wylie L. and Louise Hillyard Henry; and a sister-in-law, Ruth C. Monks.
Services will be held on Feb. 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Board St., Jersey Shore, Pa.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. before the services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, Pa.
