David Todd Ryan, 64, passed away peacefully at the UF Health Hospital in Leesburg, Fla., on Feb. 21, 2025.
David was born in Lock Haven, the son of the late Donald "Deety" and Donna Ryan, on Sept. 10, 1960. After graduating from Lock Haven High School Class of 1978, he went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Textile Engineering at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. After earning his Masters of Textile Science from the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville, Va., he became a highly dedicated engineer in the Textile Manufacturing industry, holding positions as Director of Quality at Craftex Mills Inc and then as Director of Quality and Technical Services for Wearbest Mills. Throughout his over 30 year career, David spoke of his passion in developing high-performance sustainable upholstery textiles for hospitals, airlines and the military.
David was an avid sports fan; a lifelong fan of Penn State Football, sharing his love by coaching his children's sports teams. He enjoyed traveling, where he could learn something new while making friends wherever he went. David was a devout Christian who found great comfort in his Lutheran faith. David will be fondly remembered for his love of breakfast foods, bourbon on the rocks and cheesesteaks from Dalessandro's Steaks in Philadelphia.
David is survived by; his wife, Elena Elrom, his former wife Margaret Ryan and their three children, Aidan (Ashley) Ryan, Connor Ryan and Meredith (Miranda) LaRocque, and grandson Liam Ryan. He is also survived by his two brothers Douglas (Barbara) Ryan and Drew (Marge) Ryan, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. David is preceded in death by his parents, Donald "Deety" and Donna Ryan and his sister, Dawn Gayman.
A Memorial Service will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home in The Villages, Fla., as well as a Celebration of Life in Lock Haven at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to The Gettysburg Foundation, to help preserve one of David's favorite places.
