Donna (Benton) Peiffer died on March 12, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after a fall at her home the previous day. Her last day in this world was spent outside under the warm sun, surveying the new flowers and landscape, an activity she always loved.
Donna was born Dec. 14, 1947, in Philipsburg, Pa., to the late Muriel (Narehood) Benton and Clair Benton. She grew up in Pine Glen and met the love of her life Joe Peiffer in 1962 at the Karthaus Fire Company carnival. They married in 1965 and lived most of their lives together in central Pennsylvania, except for six months in Riverside, Calif. (1969) and several years apart in the 1990s. They married again in 2000 and raised their grandson Zach together.
Donna graduated from Bald Eagle Area High School (1965), attended Empire Beauty School in the 1980s and operated her own business for several years. She also earned her real estate license and worked as an agent and later at Uni-Marts corporation. She later retired from C-Cor Electronics where she worked as an IT specialist.
Donna enjoyed helping others and was guided by her deep faith in Christianity. She loved cooking and baking especially when she could invite friends and family to gather in her home. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing Scrabble and card games, and being challenged by the daily Wordle.
Donna was preceded in death by her son, Dan Peiffer; brother, Ted Benton; and sister, Myrna (Benton) Miller.
Donna is survived by her husband Joe Peiffer; her children, Zach Peiffer, of McElhattan (grandson who became her son after Dan's death in 1998); Ginger (Kevin McNally), of Millburn, N.J.; and Laura (Ed Adams), of State College; and her grandchildren, Brady Adams, of Seattle, Wash., Luke Adams, of Portland, Ore, and Margo McNally, of Millburn, N.J. She is also survived by brothers, Chuck and Dave Benton, and sisters, Mary Pelton and Linda Trimpey.
Visitation will be Sunday March 16, 2025, 1-3 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Dave Etters and David Kanski officiating.
Burial will be private, at Oak Hill cemetery in Karthaus.
