June R. (Bierly) Wilson, 98, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2025 at Forest Park Nursing and Rehabilitation, Carlisle, Pa. after a brief illness.
June was born on June 23, 1926 to Anna (Billet) and W. Cleveland Bierly in Clintondale, Pa., one of 9 children. All of June's siblings preceded her in death. She graduated from Hublersburg High School during WWII and went to work in a Sylvania electronics factory in Lock Haven producing needed components for the war effort. As fate would have it, her brother, Oscar Bierly, was the plant manager (always nice to have personal connections!) After the war, she married Fred G. R. Wilson (who preceded her in death) and they worked a dairy farm near Zion, Pa. for the remainder of the century. June was a member of Zion Community Church in Zion.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda (John) Weiser of Ijamsville, Md. and son, George Wilson (Susan Engler) of Bethlehem, Pa., as well as, grandchildren Sarah (Michael)Weiser-Ward of Raleigh, N.C.; Jacob (Mandy) Weiser of Mt. Airy, Md.; Kate Engler (Bryan Chicoine) of Neenah, Wis. and 5, soon to be 6, great-grandchildren. June has a great number of nieces and nephews who, with their children, are found throughout the central region of PA, southeast PA, Maryland, Colorado, Oklahoma and New Zealand. A sister-in-law, Ruby Bierly, widow of Oscar Bierly, lives in Richardson, Texas.
June was well known for her sweet disposition. She had a smile to offer everyone and an "oh golly" was a trademark response in many a conversation. In her later years, attendants at the nursing home where she resided uniformly knew her as "June-bug," indicating that her sweet disposition did not diminish with time and personal circumstance. It is that glowing personality that will be so greatly missed.
On May 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. a Celebration of Life for June Wilson will occur at the Centre Hall Lions Club, 153 E Church St, Centre Hall, PA. A private inurnment will be held earlier that day for immediate family.
