Beverly A. Gardner

Beverly A. Gardner, 88, of Howard, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Born on April 13, 1936, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late James and Ethel (Fye) Shuey.

On May 18, 1957, in Winchester, Va., she married Paul J. "Jack" Gardner, who lovingly survives her.

Beverly attended the Bellefonte Area High School and also attended Bible School in Indiana. Though she worked in various capacities throughout her life, her true calling was as a devoted homemaker.

Beverly was a faithful member of God's Missionary Church in Milesburg, where she found great joy in worship and community.

Known for her exceptional cooking and baking, Beverly also cherished reading her Bible and attending gospel groups in Lamar. A dedicated prayer warrior, she lived with an unwavering faith in the Lord, and now, she is in His eternal presence.

For many years, she and Jack worked together to care for Schenck's Cemetery in Howard.

Beverly had a sweet tooth, and anyone fortunate enough to share time with her might find a handful of her beloved Gummy Bears, as she was always generous with the little things she loved.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jack; a daughter, Debra I. Lyons, and her husband, Daniel, of Howard; three grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Moore, Daniel Lyons, Jr. and Tanya Summers; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bruce, Garrett, Olivia, Kendall, Natalie and Parker.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by two sons, Merrill Gardner and Daniel Gardner; a great-grandson, Ty Steven Moore; and her siblings, five brothers, Alvin Shuey, Miles Shuey, Cecil Shuey, Kenny Shuey Allen Shuey; two infant brothers, Donald and Jimmy; six sisters, Irene Sampsell, Milly Shuey, Pearl Packer, Betty Craig, Genevieve Gordon and Alzene Lenker; and an infant sister, Hazel.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 6-8 p.m., and on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 10-11 a.m., at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. A funeral service will follow on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor David Etters officiating. Burial will take place at Schenck's Cemetery in Howard.
