Adam L. Waltz

Adam L. Waltz, 81, of Cooks Run, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in a river accident.

Born Feb. 15, 1944, in Lock Haven, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Bessie J. (Miller) Waltz.

Adam was married to Connie R. (Bardo) Waltz on May 25, 1965. They celebrated 62 years of marriage together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joyce (Ernie) Henninger; and his brothers, Dave (Regis) and Donny (Peg) Waltz.

Adam was a state wrestling champ from Bald Eagle Nittany in 1962 and a National champ at Lock Haven Teachers College in 1967. He loved wresting and coaching. He was known for his superior athletic abilities, walking up and down the stairs on his hands, and being a force to be reckoned with in his younger years.

Adam was a Phys-ed teacher at Middleburg from 1967 to 1968, as well as a wrestling coach and an assistant soccer coach. He then took a position at Renovo Elementary where he taught from 1968-1997. He also coached wrestling for many years and was a football coach.

Adam and Connie farmed for many years ­– including hogs and produce. They had a roadside market for 30 years, which was known for their tomatoes and giant pumpkins.

Adam loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved following the great-grandchildren’s baseball and softball games.

Surviving are his devoted wife; four daughters, Coreena (Kent) Meyer, Carmen (John) Germello, Christin (Chris) Tripp and Denise (Chuck) Peck; nine grandchildren, Kyle (Melony) Meyer, Courtney (Kyle) Shady, Kiera (Fellipe) Carniero, Jesse Germello, Josh (Mariah) Germello, Robert Weaver, Christopher (Karena) Weaver, Brock Peck and Natasha (Brad) Kile; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, Pa., with Martha Sykes officiating.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

There will be a gathering after the funeral at the Chapman Township Fire Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing the Adam Waltz Memorial Scholarship to be given to an outstanding senior who excels in athletics. Donations can be made to Coreena Meyer and mailed to 447 W. Winter Road, Loganton, PA 17747.

Donations could also be given to the Renovo Water Search & Rescue, 230 Eleventh St., Renovo, PA 17764.

Adam L. Waltz will be remembered as the man, the myth, the legend.
