Josephine M. Mayes, 92, of Lock Haven, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living.
Born Dec. 27, 1932, in Lock Haven, she was the last surviving child of the five children born to the late Lorenzo and Carmella Vuccolo.
Josephine was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On Aug. 8, 1953, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, she married Paul A. Mayes, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.
For 25 years, Josephine was employed as a teacher’s aid.
Josephine was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, attending St. Agnes Catholic Church, where she was a part of the Memorial for Unborn Children and volunteered at the Parish Fair in the Trash and Treasures.
She enjoyed cooking and gardening as well as reading and needlepoint.
Surviving are her sons, Paul Allen (Carolyn) Mayes, of North Carolina, Dr. Larry W. (Tonya) Mayes, of Annville, and Stephen M. (Jennifer) Mayes, of Sewickley; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa.
Memorial contributions in Josephine’s name may be made to the Clinton County SPCA through the funeral home.
