Jimmie H. Barner, 90, of Mill Hall, Pa., passed away on Aug. 17, 2025 in the Gatehouse at Divine Providence, Williamsport.
Jimmie was born in Mill Hall to Grover C. and Nancy E. Barner on Dec. 30, 1934. He played baseball for and graduated from Mill Hall High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army. He was an expert marksman and was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany from 1957-1959.
He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and worked most of his life in the construction industry for various employers including McCormick Contracting, Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. and HRI Inc.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending his yard and garden and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Sandy (Kwiatek) Barner, of Mill Hall; a son, Mark (Monica) Barner, of Youngstown, N.Y.; granddaughters, Hannah, Sophie and Grace Barner; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jule A. Barner, of Williamsport.
A memorial service with full military honors for Jimmie H. Barner will be held Friday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m. at the Gedon Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. LLC, 320 Main St., Mill Hall. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home one hour prior to services. Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Kuhns.
Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jimmie’s name to the Cedar Hill Cemetery Association, 1194 Mackeyville Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751.
