Madalyn Anna Moyer, 91, of Hickory, N.C., and formerly of Mill Hall, Pa., passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center, North Carolina.
Born March 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Harry Hoffman and Madaline Hoffman.
Madalyn dedicated her life to nurturing and teaching children. She served as a Sunday School teacher from her teenage years until she could no longer physically attend. She also gave of herself through children’s services, serving as a foster parent and contributing to Head Start programs. Her nurturing spirit, strong will and loyal heart made her a beloved leader in her family and community.
She is survived by her children, Jacob Moyer (Nancy), of Grafton, W. Va., James Titus (Brenda), of Lock Haven, Pa., Jacqueline Shamber, of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Linda Moyer, of Lock Haven, Pa. She is also survived by her brother, David Hoffman (Judy), of Butler, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Moyer; her infant daughter, Carol Moyer; her sisters, Bertha May and Bonnie Strauser; and her brothers, Harry Hoffman, Jr., Richard Hoffman and James Hoffman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Bible Mission Church, 641 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745. The family will receive friends following the service.
In honor of Madalyn’s wishes, those attending are encouraged to wear something pink.
