Major Dixie George

Major Dixie George, of the Salvation Army, was promoted to Glory on the evening of Sept. 9, 2025.

Born in Lock Haven on Jan. 17, 1947, she was one of 11 children of Henry, Sr. and Cleo (Dick) George. She grew up across the river from the YMCA. Her siblings include Henry, Jr., Bob, Gloria, Alvin, Jim, Dave, Woody, Tina, Annette and Ken.

Dixie was active with the Salvation Army for 30 years before retiring. She spent her final days near her daughters in the Myrtle Beach, S.C., area.
