Megan Grace Gentzel

Megan Grace Gentzel
Megan Grace Gentzel, of East Church Street, Lock Haven, was born on the sunny day of June 21, 1990, at the Lock Haven Hospital to Brad and Paula Gentzel, of Loganton, with big blue eyes and a dusting of blonde hair. She lived on this earth for 35 short years, tragically and unexpectedly passing away in the early hours of July 17, 2025.
She grew up in the mountains of Sugar Valley, spending lots of time exploring the woods behind her home and playing in the creek at her paternal grandparent’s house in Bull Run.
Megan was a 2009 graduate of Sugar Valley Charter School, where she was part of the school’s first cheer squad. It was at the SVRCS she met her best lifelong friends, Hayley, Roi and Jeri.
She was clever, and quick with words, but also a kind person, an animal lover and a thrift store treasure hunter. Music was a big part of her life growing up and if you ask her friends what comes to mind when they think of Megan, many will mention Green Day and Good Charlotte, and her favorite word, “shenanigans.”
As much as Megan loved music, shopping and animals, her biggest blessing was her young son, Eli Alexander Jade Gentzel. She was so proud of him. Her constant goal was to be a better person for his sake. Whether going to the candy store, dining at Fox’s, spending time at the park or just hanging out together, when she was with Eli, the world was right and her smile was genuine.
Megan’s life ended way too soon, but it mattered, and those who loved her are sad to see her go.
Perhaps Megan’s musical idol, Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day, said it best:
“So take the photographs and still frames in your mind. Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time. Tattoos of memories, and dead skin on trial. For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while. It’s something unpredictable, but in the end, it’s right. I hope you had the time of your life.”
In addition to her parents and son, Megan is survived by her brother, Danny (Kayla) Gentzel, of Loganton; half brothers, Bill Smith, of Loganton, and Mark Smith, of Lock Haven; aunts, Amber (Roy) Morris, of Loganton, Penny (Randy) McCloskey, of McElhattan, and Doreen (John) Smith, of Lewistown; uncles, Jeffrey Gentzel, of Williamsport, and David (Janet) Sheats, of Allentown; as well as several nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gerald and Vivian Douty Gentzel, of Loganton; her maternal grandparents, Jerry and Darla Powers, of McElhattan; a niece, Faith Smith, of Loganton; an uncle, Rodney Gentzel; and the love of her life, Tony Wereman, of Mill Hall.
A Memorial Service for Megan Grace Gentzel will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Loganton Wesleyan Church, 4972 Long Run Road, Loganton, with Pastor Bradley Strange officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc.
Sympathy cards may be mailed to her parents, Brad and Paula Gentzel, 973 Pine Loganton Road, Loganton, PA 17747.
