GEORGE SHROAT
George W. Shroat, 74, of Jersey Shore, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Geisinger in Danville.
Born Oct. 31, 1950, in Lock Haven, he was the son to the late George C. Shroat and the former Rose Aikley.
George was a 1969 graduate of Lock Haven High School and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
He was a life member of the Avis American Legion, served on the JS Veterans Council, Habitat for Humanity, Lycoming County Woodcarvers, Lycoming County Democratic Committee and Executive Board and volunteered at the Lock Haven Veterans Center.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.
George was employed by Conrail, was an accomplished woodcarver and a proud Veteran. He enjoyed participating in the Lycoming County Fair, loved gardening and was very active and instrumental in the local community. He was a good husband, man and father.
George is survived by his loving wife, the former Mary Lee Wingfield. They were united in marriage on June 20, 1971.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory A. (Jennifer) Shroat, of Liverpool, and Nathaniel A. Shroat, of Jersey Shore; and a sister, Cindy (Ernie) Bowers, of Castanea.

A visitation will be held from 12 – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at Welker Funeral Home. Pastor Martin Parr will officiate.
He will be laid to rest in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
