Everette E. Craig, Sr.

Everette E. Craig, Sr., 78, of Howard, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at UPMC Altoona.

Born on Feb. 18, 1947, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Clarence and Betty (Shuey) Craig.

Everette was a 1964 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War from October 1964 until he was honorably discharged in October 1968. During his time in the service, he was awarded multiple Purple Heart Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Rifle Marksman Badge.

Upon returning home, he worked for Cerro Copper and Brass until they ultimately closed. He then took a position as a correctional officer at Rockview, retiring in 2010.

He is survived by his son, Everette “Skip” Craig, Jr. (Lisa), of Howard; four grandchildren, Tasha Craig, Trevor Craig, Austin Craig and Corrina Mills; three great-grandchildren, Arya, Raegan and Presley; and a nephew, Robert Mitchell, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Everette was preceded in death by a son, Scott Craig; and a sister, Sandy Mitchell.

Everette was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He also served as a veteran speaker and was active in fund raising for the VA. He enjoyed painting landscapes on various items including pots and saw blades.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte.

Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial services with full military honors will directly follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
