Darrell E. Shade, 68, of Mackeyville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.

Born Jan. 6, 1958 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late George and Helen (Clyde) Shade.

Darrell was a 1976 graduate of Lock Haven High School and furthered his education at Wilma Boyd Career School, Pittsburgh.

He worked at Lock Haven University’s Bentley Hall before being employed by the City of Lock Haven, retiring in 2025 after 20 years of service.

Darrell was a member of the 40&8.

He enjoyed shooting pool in a couple local pool leagues. Darrell was a fan of both football and NASCAR.

Surviving is his brother, Keith (Trish) Shade, of Mill Hall; sisters, Kimberly Shade and Lisa Shade, both of Lock Haven; nephew, Bryan Shade, of Flemington; and nieces, Ashley Walker, of Lock Haven, and Kristin Getz, of Bellefonte.

In addition to his parents, George and Helen Shade, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Scott Shade and the love of his life, Deb McCoy.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
