James G. Grenninger

James G. Grenninger

James G. Grenninger, 87, of Flemington, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.

Born Jan. 1, 1939 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Allan B. and Lillian M. (Herman) Grenninger.

Jim was a 1957 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

On Feb. 11, 1956, he married the former Joan “JoAnn” Eichenlaub, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage before her passing on Jan. 18, 2023.

At 14, Jim started his career at Weis Market as a bag boy. For the next 68 years, he remained at Weis Market, working his way to assistant manager. Jim was proud to work part-time for his father-in-law’s business, Eichenlaub’s Wallpaper and Painting, for 30 years.

Jim was a devoted and active member of Flemington First Church of Christ, serving as an elder for over 45 years. During their building project, he happily volunteered many hours painting and assisting with various projects.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing.

Starting in the ’70s and continuing through the age of 85, Jim was a member of various bowling leagues.

Most important to him, though, was the time he spent with his family. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are his children, James (Candy) Grenninger Jr., of Karns City, Gaylene (Wayne) Sweeley, of Mill Hall, and Dan (Gessica) Grenninger, of Lock Haven; brothers, Randy (Pamela) Grenninger, of Yeagerstown, Timothy (Paula) Grenninger, of Salona, and Dennis (Cindy) Grenninger, of Lock Haven; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Sweeley, Jarrett (Kellyn) Sweeley, Brittini Grenninger, Joshua (Erica) Grenninger, Noah Grenninger, Jaclyn Grenninger and Kevin Grenniger; and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Shayleigh and Carson Sweeley.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, JoAnn Grenninger, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Lee Ellen Grenninger, as well as siblings, Daniel and Rebecca Grenninger.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall, PA 17751 with his pastor, Rev. Mark Riley, officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Saturday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Flemington First Church of Christ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
