Richard E. ‘Dick’ Heverly

Richard E. “Dick” Heverly, 91, of Blanchard, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at UPMC Lock Haven.

Born on Dec. 23, 1934, in Marsh Creek, he was the son of the late Richard W. Heverly and Sara Bell (Haines) Heverly.

On Aug. 10, 1956, he married his beloved wife, Sara M. (Barton) Heverly, who survives at home after sharing over 71 years of marriage together.

Dick attended Liberty Curtin Elementary School. He worked for Warner Company (formerly the Bellefonte Lime Plant) for over 30 years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Sara, he is survived by their children, Debra Shaffer (Danny), of Avis, Rick Heverly (Deb), of Woolrich, Dennis Heverly, of Watsontown, Tammy Tressler (Barry), of Lock Haven, and Brenda Weaver (Jeffrey), of Castanea; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Bretlin Tanner Skiro; and a sister, Shirley Bloom.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing trips to New York for salmon, fishing and hunting in Bald Eagle, Orviston Mountain, Snow Shoe, and his trips to Canada throughout the years. He also enjoyed going camping and playing softball.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Howard.
