Betty Ruth Motter

Betty Ruth Motter

Betty Ruth Motter, 88, of Lock Haven, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.

Born Oct. 12, 1937, in Howard, she was a daughter of the late Harold H. and Bernice M. (Chaffee) Amick.

Betty was a 1955 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School.

On Nov. 24, 1955, she married her best friend, William E. Motter, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

Throughout the years, Betty held various jobs including working at Woolrich and serving as a cook at various restaurants as well as a caretaker. She retired from Weis Markets where she worked in the deli. Her favorite job, though, was the sheep skin business she ran with her husband, Bill.

Betty was a faithful member of Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.

She enjoyed doing puzzles as well as playing card and board games.

Betty could often be found in the kitchen baking her excellent apple pies amongst other delicious treats that she gave away to her family and friends.

Over the years, she crocheted numerous afghans that she lovingly gave to many of her children and grandchildren.

Most important to Betty was her family. She cherished every minute she spent with them, whether playing games with a few or gathering with many at family reunions.

Surviving are her children, Rick (Erin) Motter, of Jersey Shore, Barb (Tony) Caputo, of North Carolina, and Phillip (Jackie) Motter, of Lock Haven; a granddaughter who was more like a daughter, Sarah Motter, of State College; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Motter, as well as two brothers and two sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at 7 p.m., at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to Beech Creek Wesleyan Church through the funeral home.
