Phyllis M. Larson

Phyllis M. Larson, 94, of State College, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born March 10, 1931 in Williamsport, Pa., she was the daughter of Marie Solly and Phillip Baker. She graduated from the Emporium High School where she played varsity basketball and met the love of her life, John Larson, with whom she enjoyed 75 years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, John; son, Steven Larson (Pamela), of State College; two grandchildren, Erica Reddy (Justin), of Murrysville, Pa., and Andrew Larson (Alexandra Helwig), of Front Royal, Va.; one great-grandson, Parker Reddy; her sister, Connie Welshans; and other precious family members.

Phyllis worked as a secretary in the engineering department at the Sylvania Company and at the Grit Newspaper in Williamsport. She spent most of her working years as a bank teller as she moved with John’s career with Consolidated Gas Transmission Corp.

After John retired from the gas company they built a log home in Cross Forks, Pa., which had a beautiful creek in the backyard. She enjoyed watching the wildlife of this area and made wonderful friendships in this rural community. Phyllis enjoyed reading, especially Amish fiction books, and playing Mahjong and other card games. She crocheted beautiful afghans for friends, children and grandchildren. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and most recently her new great-grandson Parker.

The family will hold a private memorial service in the spring in Cross Forks, the place that meant so much to them in their later years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
