Richard Dale ‘Rick’ Selfe, Jr.

RICHARD SELFE, JR.

Richard Dale “Rick” Selfe, Jr. passed away on Jan. 12, 2026, at UPMC Williamsport in Williamsport, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lock Haven on Sept. 20, 1946, he was the son of Richard Dale Selfe, Sr. and Betty Shaffer Selfe.

Rick attended Robb Elementary School and graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1965. He met his beautiful wife, Marie Reinsch, in high school, and they married on June 29, 1968.

Rick had a love for cars and spent his life fixing and painting cars. He worked as an auto mechanic at several garages, Casselberry’s, Don Spangler Ford, and Kmart, where he was awarded employee of the month in 1991.

In 2002 he opened Rick’s Auto Repair, where customers were treated like family, before retiring in 2023. He could be seen on sunny days riding in his Mustang with the top down enjoying the sunshine.

Rick loved his family, friends and talking to people. He was known for his sense of humor and his willingness to always play cards or Yatzee. He enjoyed his morning walks at Walmart, always with a smile, saying hello and making new friends along the way.

Volunteering at Riverfest selling Duck Derby tickets for 20 years was a way for him to give back to Riverview Park, a place where he walked often. He enjoyed being outdoors and cutting firewood with his nephew, John. He enjoyed talking to and being served at Ruby Tuesdays by his favorite waitress, Paige.

He loved to get out of town, traveling to many different states. Taking trips with Marie to Atlantic City, Scranton and New York were things he enjoyed most. His favorites being the 25th wedding anniversary trip in Las Vegas and his 75th birthday trip to Atlantic City with his daughter.

Rick is survived by his wife, Marie; his daughter, Rose Marie, and son-in-law, Shawn Wells; a granddaughter, Shania Wells (Isaias); a grandson, Evan Wells (Katelyn); brother-in-laws, James (Gail) Reinsch and David (Monty) Reinsch; his nephews, Bill (Amber) Brungard and John (Jenn) Brungard; several other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and extended family members, Nancy Young, Katie Kleckner and Jodie Rinker.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Theresa and Horst Reinsch; his sisters, Sandra Diane Selfe and Sherrie Selfe Sawyer; and his brother-in-law, William Sawyer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, Pa., with Pastor Mark Riley officiating.
