Rita A. Harer

Rita A. Harer

Rita A. Harer, 79, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Born April 14, 1946 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Ida (Confer) Kunes. Rita grew up in Orviston, a community that made a lasting impact on her.

In 1970, she married her love, David L. Harer, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

Rita was employed at Armstrong Flooring and later as a custodian at Travel Centers of America, Lamar, until her retirement.

Rita was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Blanchard.

She could often be found cleaning her kitchen, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Rita loved camping as well as going to the Grange Fair.

Most important to her, though, was her family. Regardless of whether it was an immediate family member or distant relative, she loved her family. She was especially excited to attend family reunions.

In addition to her husband, David Harer, of Lock Haven, she is survived by her daughters, Patty (Rick) Dietz, of Beech Creek, and Vicki Harer (Peter), of Lock Haven; a sister, Karen (Bill) Narehood, of Bellefonte; three grandchildren: Andrew, Megan and Alysha; and three great grandchildren: Abi, Hunter and Grayson.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Confer and a sister, Connie Packer.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, 100 Bald Eagle St., Blanchard, with Rev. Karl Steele officiating. Private interment will be at Blanchard Baptist Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
