Donald Russell Sweeley, 95, of Mill Hall, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 at Heritage Springs Memory Care, Muncy, Pa.
Born Aug. 13, 1930 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late George A. “Bud” and Alta Martz Sweeley.
Don was a 1948 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Japan in the Signal Corp during the Korean War.
On June 3, 1952, Don married the former Sally Ann Campbell and was a devoted husband to her until her passing Dec. 24, 2000.
Don obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in teaching in 1957 from the Lock Haven Teacher’s College and his Master’s degree from Penn State University in 1959. He served as an elementary teacher and principal for Keystone Central School District at Flemington Elementary and McGhee Elementary until his retirement in 1992.
Following the passing of his first wife, Sally, Don married the former Zetta Yost on Sept. 16, 2003 and shared 21 years of marriage before her passing Nov. 28, 2024.
He was a faithful member and served in the choir at Flemington United Methodist Church.
Don enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed traveling and square dancing. Many knew Don for his talented woodworking creations of which he obtained awards for over the years. In his younger years, he obtained his private pilots license and enjoyed his time flying.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne A. (Gaylene) Sweeley, of Rote, and Mark (Stephanie) Sweeley, of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Jason (Ashley), Jarrett (Kellyn) and Jaremy (Tara) Sweeley; five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Shayleigh, Carson, Piper and Sawyer; two step-children, John (Dottie) Bailey, of Williamsport, and Toni (Jeff) Snyder, of Lock Haven; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and his friend and loving caregiver, Rachael Packer.
In addition to his parents and wives, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Sweeley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Rev. Mark Riley officiating.
Friends and family will be received for a time of visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Covenant Cafe of Lock Haven.
