James C. ‘Jim’ Martin

JAMES MARTIN

James C. “Jim” Martin, 74, of Coburn, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Born Feb. 6, 1951, in Bellefonte, Jim was a son of the late Morris E. “Mike” and Esther A. (Thompson) Martin.

On the morning of Sept. 14, 1972, Jim set out to the woods for one of his favorite pastimes, squirrel hunting. Later that day he exchanged wedding vows with the love of his life, Donna Witherite, who survives.

Jim was a 1969 graduate of Penns Valley High School. After graduation, Jim served our country in the U. S. Army. When he returned home, he went to work for his father at Martin’s Feed Mill. In 1984, Jim started his own business, Jim Martin Masonry, which he continued doing until he retired.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter — especially squirrels. He enjoyed watching Pirate baseball, Steeler football and NASCAR racing.

Jim was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg, the Millheim Fireman’s Club and the American Legion Keystone Post #444 in Millheim.

Jim was well known in the community and proud of the beef that he raised and sold locally.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Jim is survived by a son, Rawn “Rawnie” Martin (Karen), of Shrewsbury; and three brothers, Paul Martin (Carol), of Millheim, and Robert Martin (Betty) and Edward Martin (Mary), both of Aaronsburg.

Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Salem Lutheran Church in Aaronsburg.

The funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Becky Horn officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory may be given to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
