Bertha Lingle Brickley

Bertha Lingle Brickley

Bertha Lingle Brickley, born July 5, 1926, in Beech Creek, Pa., a daughter of Richard and Mabel Lingle, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at the age of 99.

Bertha was the widow of Dean Brickley who preceded her in death in 2017. They married in 1949 and had six children, Joseph (Vanessa), Craig, Doug, Cindy Kress (Steve), Lisa McKernan and Gaylon (Lori), all who survive her.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

During World War II, Bertha worked at Sylvania Electric while still in high school. After graduation, she worked in Lock Haven at The First National Bank and then the Lock Haven Trust Bank.

Bertha was a member of a local female gospel singing group accompanied by a gentleman on piano that travelled around performing at various venues. They once performed on a radio station in Williamsport, Pa. That time in her life was always special with memories she held dear.

The love for gospel music was ever present in her life and brought her so much enjoyment. Later in her life, her daughters took her to see the Booth Brothers live, one of her favorite Gaither Gospel groups.

Faith was an integral part of her life, starting at a young age when she, her mother and her sisters would walk a mile to the Church of Christ in Blanchard, where she was a lifelong member.

A passionate gardener, Bertha found joy and fulfillment in growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables alongside her husband. She was always up for any yard game that involved playing with a ball.

Thrifty and health conscious, Bertha was always encouraging those values in her children.

A private celebration of her life will be held at her daughter’s home in Port Matilda, Pa.
