Donald Ray Saar
Donald Ray Saar
Donald Ray Saar, 67, of Lock Haven, Pa., passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026 at The Gatehouse, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 15, 1959, in Jersey Shore, Pa., Donald was the son of the late James M. and Vera M. Saar, of Jersey Shore, Pa.
Don graduated from Jersey Shore High School and went on to build a dedicated career with Asplundh Tree Service, Jersey Shore Steel and retired from Saar’s Tree Service, LLC. His work ethic and commitment to his craft were evident throughout his professional life.
A man who cherished the outdoors, Don found joy in hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles over the years. He was happiest surrounded by nature and spent countless hours in his backyard oasis. His “therapy room,” a gazebo he created in his yard, was a place of peace and reflection for him.
Donald is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. Saar; his daughter, Julie Beth Saar; his son, Donald William Saar (Donny); daughter-in-law, Lindsey; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, James E. Saar (Meera), of Jackson, N.J.; twin sister, Donna M. Bender (Harold), of Turbotville, Pa.; and brother, Michael J. Saar (Taryn), of Lock Haven, Pa. Additionally, he leaves behind nine nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Jim holds dear the many hunting and fishing memories when they were young. Donna will treasure Don being her protector as a child growing up. Mike will always remember the many adventures he had with his hero working and playing throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by other loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
We are proud of Don donating his body to science, so he can help others. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
