Beulah Jane (McCracken) Young
Beulah Jane (McCracken) Young, 91, of Avis, Pa., was called to heaven on May 17, 2026.
Born to Raymond and Dorothy McCracken in Lock Haven, Pa., on Jan. 3, 1935, Beulah was the youngest of 10 siblings. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1952.
On May 20, 1953, she married Charles S. Young, Sr., of Jersey Shore, Pa., in Winchester, Va. Together they shared 52 years of marriage until his passing in November of 2005.
Beulah worked at several manufacturing companies, including Glamorize, Piper Aviation and Bobbie Brooks.
In her early years, she affectionately earned the nickname “Boots.” She was known for her spunky personality, witty sense of humor and steadfast nature. She loved keeping a beautifully maintained home and flower gardens, dressing up to attend social club events and talking on the phone, especially with her niece, Betty Jean.
Beulah enjoyed hosting family and friends during the holidays. She was an exceptional dancer and an extremely talented artist. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. If you asked her, she was Elvis’s #1 fan, accumulating an impressive collection of his music and memorabilia over the years.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and husband; infant children, Jayne and Jamey; siblings, in-laws, John and Mildred Young; a son-in-law, John Asper; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Young; and her loving companion, Vern.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Asper, of Avis, Charles (Heather) Young, Jr., of Williamsport, Joni (Timothy) Sawyer, of Cogan Station, and Rick Young, also of Williamsport; her grandchildren, Candace (Dean) Confer, of Lock Haven, Shannon (William) Schaefer, of Jersey Shore, Matthew (Kayla) Young, of Lancaster, Zakk (Kaitlyn) Bowman, of Williamsport, Cory Young, of New York, Caleb (Lexi) Young, of Jersey Shore, and Evan Young, of Williamsport; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as a sister-in-law, Carol Pounds, of Florida.
