Joan Green Mills O’Laughlin

It is with heavy hearts we share that our beloved Joan Green Mills O’Laughlin went home to Jesus on April 24, 2026.

She was the fifth child born to parents John and Gladys (Raemsch) Green of Summerson Mountain on Aug. 25, 1942.

Joan devoted her life to her children, whom she loved with all of her heart: Linda (Robert) Kelley, Brian (Mary) Mills, John (Stephanie) Mills Jr., Frank Mills, Sr., James (Kathy) Mills, Sr. and Shawn (Darlene) Mills.

Lovingly known as “MeMe,” she was blessed with numerous grandchildren: Chelsi, Aaron, Jennifer, Anya, Beth, Natasha, Frank, Jonathan, Emalea, Patrick, Bonnie, Joleen, Erika, Amy, Angie, Noah, DJ, Josh and Mike, as well as several great-grandchildren.

Spending most of her life as a home-maker, she valued education and continued classes to earn her General Education Diploma in April of 1986.

She will undoubtedly be remembered as a gifted baker, with her famous breads and cakes enjoyed at decades of weddings and other joyous celebrations.

Throughout her life, Joan developed a love of music, learning to play the mandolin. She was always excited to share her talent with others, performing with her partner Eddie in the popular duo known as the “Mountain Valley Creekers.”

She is survived by her beloved companion, Paul Busshaus, as well as siblings, Robert, Patricia, Shirley, Frank and Debbie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joanie; daughters-in-law, Laura and Mari; and siblings, Phyllis, Gladys and John.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Grace Baptist Church, North Bend. A luncheon will follow at the Chapman Township Firehall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, c/o Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa. 17745.
