John W. Calhoun, Jr.

John W. Calhoun, Jr., 86, of Lock Haven, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Born Oct. 10, 1939 in Lock Haven, he was the oldest of 15 children born to the late John W. and Pearl I. (Askins) Calhoun, Sr.

John graduated from high school in Princeton, N.J.

In 1960, he joined the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his county for the next four years.

John worked at the family garage in New Jersey before moving back to Lock Haven and opening his own shop, Calhoun’s Garage. His passion for small engines continued past his work as he was always making repairs or tinkering with lawn mowers.

John loved attending auctions, especially A-1.

He enjoyed cars- whether classic cars or NASCAR racing- as well as riding four-wheelers.

Most cherished, though, was the time he spent with his family.

Surviving are his children: Karen Walker, Ashley Calhoun, Alicia (Zachary) Calhoun and Dustin (Shena) Calhoun; grandchildren: Jenna, Colton, Mackenzie, Daniel, Nicholas, Kameron, Brock, Nicole, Celena, Skye, Noah, Parker, Legend, Jesse, Jowon and Cruze; many great grandchildren; and brothers spread between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children: Carol Calhoun, Beth Calhoun, John Calhoun, III, Jessica Mazzulla and Curtis Calhoun; grandchildren: Samantha, Cody, Bonnie and Nasir; and his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Jean Calhoun.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 2 p.m., at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Mill Hall.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 Noon until the time of the service.
