KAREN SHIELDS
Karen J. Shields, 74, of Avis, Pa., passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Lamar, Pa., on May 3, 2026.
Karen was born in Jersey Shore, Pa., to the late Billie and Mary (Baker) McCloskey on March 22, 1952.
Karen was a graduate of the Class of 1970 at Lock Haven High School.
She had been employed at the Woolrich Woolen Mills in the sewing department in Avis, until its closing. She then worked at Walmart in Montoursville until she transferred to the Mill Hall location, where she worked for 20+ years until retirement.
Karen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, quilting and knitting slippers for friends and family.
She loved spending time with friends and family, especially shopping and adventuring with her best girlfriends whom she referred to as sisters.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Holly Hoffman (Jeffrey), of Lamar; a stepdaughter, Robyn Campana (Stephen), of Richmond, Va.; a stepson, Derrick Shields, of Woolrich; a brother, Kenneth McCloskey (Barby), of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Lauren Barnhart, Brian Barnhart, Jr., Cody Shields, Dylan Shields and Alyssa Campana; and six great-grandchildren.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, Larry E. Shields; a grandson, Austin Barnhart; her sister, Ethel Soo; and a brother, Larry McCloskey.
Karen will be remembered as being a sweet, kind soul by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
There will be no services for Karen at this time.
