Russell “Rusty” Fletcher Green, Jr.

Russell “Rusty” Fletcher Green, Jr., 79, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at The Oaks in Pleasant Gap.

Born on Aug. 29, 1946, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Ethel (Stover) Decker and Russell F. Green, Sr.

Rusty graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1964. In August 1965, he entered the machinist apprentice program at Cerro Copper and Brass (Titan) and remained employed until Cerro closed.

He is survived by his son, Buzz Green (Krista), of Evans, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Melanie Green, of Gaithersburg, Md.; and cherished grandchildren, Ainsley, Sawyer and Dorian. Also surviving is his sister, Amy Yearick (Russ), of Boalsburg; a brother, Carl Green (Dorothy), of Port Matilda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jonathan; a sister, Audrey Lynn; and a brother, Richard Stover.

Rusty was a Boy Scout leader for many years, obtained his brown belt in karate and was an exceptional storyteller.

He lived for the outdoors, becoming a talented hunter and spending time at his camp with his two sons, family and friends. He enjoyed his many trips to Indiana to hunt with the PennIn Group. He was also a member of the Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Club. Additionally, he was a gifted gun maker, specifically flintlock and muzzleloaders, and an avid collector of other brands as well!

Following Rusty’s wishes, all services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
