Susan Fisher Young

Susan Fisher Young

Susan Fisher Young, 77, of Pleasant Gap, Pa., passed away on May 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, loyalty and an adventurous spirit that touched all who knew her.

A 1966 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School, Susan began her career as an administrative assistant at Penn State University. Her fierce independence and desire to forge her own path led her to return to Penn State in her early thirties to pursue a degree in marketing. She worked hard to pay her own way through college and graduated with distinction, earning a place on the Dean’s List — a reflection of her resolve and the pride she took in everything she set her mind to. She went on to build a successful professional career, bringing that same dedication to her work that she brought to everything in her life.

Susan had a deep love for the outdoors and embraced life with an open heart. Her greatest joy was hitting the open road with her partner, Terry, exploring the country by motorhome and motorcycle — camping along the way and soaking in the sights and landscapes that America had to offer. It was a pastime that captured everything Susan loved most: freedom, adventure and the wide-open road.

She also took great pleasure in lovingly tending to her rose bushes and was a gifted seamstress who took pride in crafting her own clothing — a creative skill that reflected both her patience and her artistry.

Strong-willed and determined, Susan approached life on her own terms — a quality that, while occasionally mistaken for stubbornness, was simply the mark of a woman who knew her own mind.

Above all, she was known for her outgoing nature and her deep loyalty to her family and friends.

She is survived by her partner, Terry Donahey; her son, Jerry Young, and his wife Valerie; her grandchildren, Emilie and Alex Young; her sisters, Bonnie Fisher and Vickie Biddle; and her brother, Tom Fisher, along with their families.

The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Paula Snedeker and her family, whose friendship with Susan spanned more than 60 years. Paula’s unwavering devotion and compassionate care during the last five years, as Susan navigated the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, was a profound gift to Susan and her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Betty Fisher; and her brother, Jerry Fisher.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes, there will be no formal services. A private cremation has been arranged.
