Gerald ‘Snuff’ W. Bechdel

Gerald “Snuff” W. Bechdel, 67, of Beech Creek, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Geisinger Hospital in Jersey Shore. Born on Sept. 26, 1956, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late William M. and Betty (Phillips) Bechdel.

Snuff was a 1977 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Over the years he worked for Best Way, Lock Haven Distribution and the Two Rock Stover Company until his retirement.

He is survived by his siblings: Larry Phillips (Harriet), Linda Haugh (Ken), Deb Rockey (Kimm), Dale Bechdel (Sandy), Barb Wheeler (Gary Dean) and Brenda Bechdel. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Snuff was a member of the Monument Church of Christ. Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion Post 623 in Beech Creek. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. He also liked a good game of cards and always looked forward to going out to camp with his family.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 1:00 ­ 3:00 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 135 W. Main Street, Howard. Funeral and burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
