Robert Shuman Statton

Robert Shuman Statton

It is with heartfelt love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Shuman Statton, who slipped into eternal sleep on June 13, 2026, at the grand age of 94.

Born on Nov. 11, 1931, in Lock Haven, Pa., Dad was the son of Bruce and Ann Statton.

Dad was best described as a ‘gentle man from a small town with ambitions to see the world’. Robert achieved this goal shortly after graduation from Lock Haven High School when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Being a passive soul, Robert didn’t want to go into battle, and instead went on to serve as a Naval Telecommunications Officer. He was based at the U.S. Embassy in Grosvenor Square in London, England. This would be the first quest to fulfil his goal to expand his horizons globally.

It was here that he would meet his future wife of 60 years, Susan. Following a brief courtship, an elaborate wedding took place in London’s Mayfair with the US Commodore in attendance. Together, Robert and Sue blended two cultures into a fascinating life between Tampa Bay, Fla., and England that also resulted in two children of dual nationality Bobby and Lisa-Jane.

Robert was a man of principle, a passionate patriot of his Country and a committed professional during his post-Naval career with the General Motors Corporation until his retirement in 1999. His success was recognized with annual awards for sales excellence. His unwavering generosity and kindness throughout his life were shared with family, friends and strangers in need.

Beyond his professional achievements, his truest passion was his family. He will be fondly remembered for his love of cars, travel, legendary parties alongside his wife, Susan, signature BBQs and a penchant for gardening.

He leaves behind a legacy of living a life with honesty, commitment to family, friends and Country and for breaking through the boundaries of his humble beginnings. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Ann; a brother, Bruce; his sisters, June and Mary; and his wife, Susan.

A private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date with details to follow.

The family would like express special thanks to James and Vickie Statton for their enormous love and support to Robert, Bobby and Lisa-Jane.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or The Dementia Society of America.
