Amelia D. Aber

Amelia D. Aber, 76, of South Renovo, passed away June 28, 2026, in her home surrounded by her family.

Born Oct. 10, 1949, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Emerald and Mary (Woomer) Bechdel.

She attended Lock Haven High School and graduated in 1968. She worked for Susquehanna Transit, driving school buses for 40 years, and was very passionate about the relationships she made while driving.

She enjoyed arts and crafts with her niece, Mary Kennis, especially making gifts for her family and friends.

She was a member of the Christian Community Church in South Renovo.

Amelia spent her life filling her home with love and laughter while bringing her family together. Her selfless spirit led her to a lifetime of caring for everyone in her life.

Amelia is survived by her children, Robert James, Jr., Heather James and Harry James; and a stepdaughter, Kristi Strope. She is also survived by her sisters, Dolores Myers, Relda Laubscher, Roberta Moore and Martha McClosky; a brother, Emerald (Bud) Bechdel; her grandchildren, Tristan, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Robert, Abigail and Clair; six great-grandchildren; five step-children; and 12 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Richard E. Aber and Robert D. James. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Emaline Leitch and Jane Briggs.

Memorial services will be held at the Christian Community Church in South Renovo on July 25, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Richard Colvin officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
