Carol J. Galbraith Houck

Carol Jane Galbraith Houck, 85, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Born Oct. 5, 1940 at her family’s home in Martins Grove, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy Galbraith. Her family then moved to Lock Haven where she was raised and graduated high school.

On Aug. 31, 1971, she married her best friend, James E. Houck. In 1973, they purchased several cemeteries, which they operated, in Ohio. After James’ passing in 1989, Carol continued to run and operate the cemeteries for 15 years.

Carol was Protestant by faith and loved the Lord. She played organ and piano in several churches in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Although she didn’t have children of her own, she enjoyed caring for and helping all of the children in her family.

For 34 years, Carol resided in Mount Vernon, Ohio, moving back to Lock Haven in December 2024 to care for her brother, Dave, while he battled cancer. Her own declining health kept her in Lock Haven after Dave’s passing.

Carol leaves behind many dear friends as well as her brother, Joseph (Dodie) Galbraith; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and several great, great nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: William “Bill” Galbraith, Thomas Galbraith and David Galbraith; nephews: Jay Don and Bob Galbraith; and great nephew, Josh Galbraith.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 12 Noon at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745, with her cousin, Pastor Will Strunk, officiating. Interment will follow at Romola Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be made to Romola Cemetery for their perpetual care fund.
