Donna L. Bitner, 89, of Blanchard, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
Born May 5, 1937 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Myron Hayes and Catherine (White) Simcox.
Donna attended Lock Haven High School.
On Aug. 14, 1954, she married her love, Richard C. "Dick" Bitner. Together, they owned Bitner Busing for 23 years. Dick and Donna shared 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.
Donna baked cakes for over 30 years. She also taught cake decorating in the Adult Education Program.
She was a member of Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.
Donna served as PTO President at Liberty-Curtain Elementary School for 20 years.
Together with Dick, she held an annual toy drive for many years.
Donna loved flowers; but most of all, she cherished her family.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffery (Kathleen) Bitner, of Howard, and Joseph "Jody" (Shelly) Bitner, of Blanchard; a daughter, Cassie (Shawn) Carson, of Blanchard; two sisters, Hazel Fasano, of Massachusetts, and Pat (Ron) Hardy, of Lamar; nine grandchildren: Brian, Cole, Hope, Bryce, Tessa, Austyn, Landyn, Mycah and Maddix; four great grandchildren: Quinn, Emyln, Cayson and McKinley; and three children who grew up in her home: Beth Moore, of Mill Hall, Kent (LeAnn) Young, of Lock Haven, and Steve Young, of York. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, her dog, LuLu.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Simcox and the greatest in-laws, Russell and Kathleen Bitner.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 5 p.m., at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating.
