Marjorie Brooks, of Howard, was reunited with her late husband, James, on July 17, 2026.
She was born in Bellefonte on June 14, 1943, to Helen (Stover) and Merrill Shuey.
Marjorie ("Margie") went to Bald Eagle Area High School, then worked at Jostens, Renninger's True Value and retired from Penn State.
Margie was a woman of God first, and she often credited her marriage to James being kept strong by them finding Christ together. Losing James in 2021 after 40 years of marriage was a struggle, but Margie kept her connection to the Lord and knew that someday she would rejoin James in Heaven. She always spread the good word and made sure to tell people that Jesus loves them.
She made more than one church her home over the years; she spent many years at Coleville Wesleyan Church and spent part of her time there helping as their bookkeeper. She also spent years at Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ while her husband was the interim pastor. Her final church she attended was Church of the Good Shepherd in Bellefonte.
Margie loved to make people laugh, especially her twin sister, Marie. Margie would often say that two minds meant twice the mischief when she would tell people about her childhood. She loved weekly Bible Study, classic country music, going on shopping trips, family meals and visiting with her loved ones.
Margie had many memorable trips to Lancaster with her mother and her sisters, Jan and Marie. Get-togethers with her brother, Bobby, were loads of laughs, because they shared a sense of humor.
She loved Jerry Lewis and Lucille Ball, and she took a lot of their humor out into the world. She was a warm, colorful person and that was reflected in how she decorated her home and flower gardens.
She is survived by three sisters and a brother, Marie Corrigan (Samuel), Robert Shuey (Bonnie), Janice McDowell (Dennis) and Mary Greene. She is also survived by her first husband, Robert Waite (Judy), and their daughters, Sandra Mellor and Bonnie Wilcox (Merle); and three grandchildren, Tera Perryman, Amanda Perryman and Cole Wilcox (Ashley).
Also surviving are her step-children to James, Felicia Brooks-Bechdel (Travis), Dawn Brooks-Redford (Randy), James Brooks, III (Karen) and Amy Brooks-Fleming (Art); and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded by three siblings, Paul, Evelyn and Nevin Grove.
A Celebration of Margie's Life will be held at the Bald Eagle State Park in Pavilion 6 on Sept. 19, 2026, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Dan Longmore officiating.
