Matthew Kane Wolf

Matthew Kane Wolf, 47, of Howard, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Born on April 21, 1979, in State College, he was the son of the late Kline Richard "Skip" Wolf and Jeanne (Clark) Wolf, who survives at home. On Oct. 7, 2006, he married the love of his life, Shannon (English) Wolf, who survives at home with their children after sharing nearly 20 years of marriage.

Matt was a 1997 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. In 2001, he graduated from Penn State University in Turf Management. He worked on the construction of a golf course in Hershey before transitioning to the Lancaster Country Club where he worked as an Assistant Superintendent. He went on to work as the Superintendent at the Yahnundasis Golf Club before going to work at Penn State in the Landscapes OPP department for the past 11 years.

In addition to his wife, Shannon, and mother, Jeanne, he is survived by his children, Kane Michael Wolf, Jackson Kline Wolf, both of Howard, and Ariel Natasha Commerer (Tanner), of Wyoming, and two grandchildren, Jameson and Maven. Also surviving are his brothers, Kline R. "Kip" Wolf (Alta), of Howard, and Joshua F. Wolf, of Hollidaysburg; nieces and nephews: Ashlee Kochik (Brian), Joulia Wolf, Alexander Wolf, Nadia Wolf and Victoria McLaughlin; father and mother-in-law, Michael R. and Kathie J. English, of Beech Creek, and a brother-in-law, Shawn M. English (Millie), of Blanchard.

Matt loved the outdoors and found joy in fly-fishing, time at his hunting camp, annual fishing trips to Upstate New York and fishing adventures out West. Above all else, though, his greatest happiness came from being with his family. Whether it was at practice, a game or special event, his children always knew they could count on hearing their dad cheering them on from the stands.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Yearick Center, 341 Walnut Street, Howard. Burial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Howard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a special account established at M&T Bank for the care and future needs of Matt's children. M&T Bank can be reached by calling 814-355-6420 and referencing 6992, the last four digits of the account number.
