Robert E. ‘Bob’ Haffley
Robert E. “Bob” Haffley, 94, of Hughesville, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at UPMC Williamsport Hospital.
Born March 11, 1932, in Lock Haven, Pa., he was one of three children of the late Eugene F. and Edna Mae (Embick) Haffley,
In November 1990 he married Betty Lou (Murphy) Hill, and together they celebrated 36 years of marriage.
Bob was a graduate of Mill Hall High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from State Teachers College in Lock Haven and received Elementary School Principal Certification from the Pennsylvania State University.
Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was an educator and administrator in education most of his life. Following his retirement from education, he worked for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance.
Bob was an avid fisherman, making his own fishing flies and selling some of them on e-Bay. He also enjoyed carving wood and whittling, making many different shapes and animals. Bob and Betty enjoyed going to a good yard sale and repurposing old items for new uses. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Bob enjoyed reading in his spare time.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by a son, Robin Haffley, and his wife, Ann; a step-son, Bruce Hill, Jr., and his wife, Tammy; a step-daughter, Debra Sue Paypa, and her husband, Gary; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren (with two on the way); and a sister, Katy Shuey.
Beside his parents, he is preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sybil Hill Pauling; and a brother, Sidney Haffley.
There will be a private burial in Muncy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
