RONALD HODES
Ronald Alan Hodes, 77, of State College, Pa, died July 2, 2026, at Geisinger in Danville after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born on July 26, 1948 in Lock Haven Pa., he was the younger son of Ellis and Lillian (Suchman) Hodes. He married the former Carol Leinbach, who survives at home. He also is survived by daughters Robyn Weis (Daniel), of McDonald, Pa., and Dara Tuteur (Steven), of East Norriton, Pa.; five grandchildren, Rachel Weis, Zachary Weis, and Joshua Weis, Madeline Tuteur and Jacob Tuteur. Ronald was predeceased by his brother, Melvin, as well as his parents. Ron was a 1966 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1970 graduate of Lock Haven University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and Kappa Delta Pi honor society. After the death of his father, he owned and operated Hodes Industries in Pleasant Gap. Ron and his young family moved to State College in the aftermath of hurricane Agnes in 1972.
He was a member and former president of State College Rotary Club, emeritus member of Centre Hills Country Club and served several decades on the board of Congregation Brit Shalom where he held the positions of president, treasurer and chair of several committees over the years.
He was a lifetime Penn State Sports fan and recalls attending Penn State football games at the original Beaver Field near the Nittany Lion Inn. Ron was a member of the Nittany Lion Club and Penn State Wrestling Club.
A memorial service will be held at noon, today, July 7 at Congregation Brit Shalom with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating. Burial will be in Beth Yehuda Cemetery, Lock Haven.
The family thanks the doctors and nurses at Geisinger for the excellent care they gave to Ron and his family. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Brit Shalom in State College.
