Kelly Marie (Stout) Long

Kelly Marie (Stout) Long entered into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, surrounded by her three children and friends.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1967 to Gilbert and Marie (Gyurina) Stout. She is survived by her former husband, Scott Long, and her three children, Scott, Grant and Grace. She advocated for her children fiercely and loved them immensely.

Kelly graduated from Bucktail Area High School in 1985 and then in 1993 she graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree and an English teaching degree.

Her three passions in life were her faith in Jesus, her three children and her writing! She lived a life of serving her Savior and sharing His word through her speaking, writing and friendships.

Kelly was a published author and a National Best Seller of over 30 Amish novels. She focused on real life issues of abuse, alcoholism and mental illness. Kelly was also an advocate of special needs and autism.

Her writing made her a finalist for the CBA Carol award. Kelly passed on her faith by writing Christian devotionals as well.

Her dog Alice was her faithful writing buddy.

There will be a celebration of life at the Sunset Memorial Church in Tamarack, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026 10:00 a.m. with a tea party luncheon to follow. Immediate family will take her ashes to the Valentine Cemetery that overlooks the Kettle Creek Valley.
