Carol Lynn (May) Vonada, 83, of Pleasant Gap, peacefully passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. Born on Aug. 20, 1943, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Robert T. and Miriam L. (Oberholtzer) May. She married Wayne R. Vonada, who preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2022.
Carol graduated with highest distinction from Bellefonte Area High School in 1961. She worked at Penn State University for 29 years, beginning her career as a Secretary in Geophysics and retiring as an Administrative Assistant in the Geosciences Department in 2003.
Carol was a problem solver who enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle and an avid Jeopardy viewer in her retirement. She was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame in 2022 for voting consecutively for more than 50 years.
Carol is survived by three children, Douglas W. Vonada, of Bellefonte, Gregory S. Vonada, of Pleasant Gap, and Karen J. Vonada, of Ventura, Calif.; and two brothers, Robert A. May and Jerrold S. May.
Following her wishes, there will be no public services for Carol. She will be privately laid to rest at Centre County Memorial Park.
