Elizabeth Ann Waltz, 96, of Pennsylvania Furnace, formerly of Howard, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Bellefonte on March 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Leroy and Nellie (Monsell) Scull. On Feb. 12, 1949, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown, she married her beloved husband Carl W. Waltz, sharing 70 years of marriage together. Carl preceded her in death on July 22, 2019.
Elizabeth was a 1948 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in caring for her family and her husband. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her daughter, granddaughter and great grandson. Knitting was a favorite pastime with every baby born to a family member or friend receiving handmade "baby booties and hats." She was an accomplished seamstress, often called upon to make and repair family members clothing. She was a faithful member of her church's weekly sewing group making quilts for those in need.
In her free time, she enjoyed working on puzzles, playing solitaire and going camping with friends and family at the campground in Marsh Creek, and at Grange Fair.
She held a special place in her heart for her only great grandchild, Clayton. Through the years, she attended every one of his home ice hockey games and often went to livestock shows to watch him show his cattle and sheep.
Elizabeth is survived by her only child and daughter, Sandra K. Rogers and her husband James, granddaughter, Emily Rogers Landis and husband Wendall, and great grandson, Clayton James Landis, all of PA Furnace.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Scull, Richard Scull and sister, Mary Jane Corl.
The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to friends, caregivers, physical therapists, nurses and doctors who supported and cared for Elizabeth during the past several years. The family will always be grateful for the thoughtful care and meaningful difference each of them made in her life, allowing her to remain at home with her family.
There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard PA 16841.
