Paul M. Richter passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2026, at the age of 79. In a fitting and meaningful coincidence, Paul passed away on the wedding anniversary he shared with his beloved wife, Carol.
Paul was preceded in death by Carol L. Richter, who passed away in July 2025. Paul and Carol's story began when they were teenagers and grew into a marriage that spanned nearly six decades. Through all those years, they built a life centered around family, shared experiences and a lot of Buffalo Bills football. As devoted fans and longtime season ticket holders, Sundays during football season were rarely negotiable.
Paul is survived by his son, Ryan Richter, and his wife, Heather Richter, and four grandsons; and his daughter, Jacqueline Rogers, and her husband, Dave Rogers, and two step-granddaughters.
Paul graduated in 1969 with a degree in Management Information Systems and built a long and successful career in information technology. His career stretched across an extraordinary period of technological change, from the early days of computing to the modern digital age.
After retiring, Paul had more time for one of the things he enjoyed most: fishing. He loved being on the water and had no shortage of fishing stories to tell afterward. Like all good fishing stories, the fish occasionally seemed to get a little bigger with each retelling.
More than anything, Paul was a husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and was proud of them. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his stories, the Bills games, the fishing trips and the many memories created over a lifetime with the people he loved.
Paul will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A private family service with a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
