Susan Jane Doberstein

Susan Jane Doberstein (Hoberman), 78, of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 29, 2026, at Haven Place.

Born and raised in Lock Haven to Dr. Edward Hoberman and Ethel Rosner, she met and married Werner Doberstein while living in Philadelphia and working at Chilton Publishing before returning home to raise her family.

Susan earned her Elementary Education degree from Lock Haven University and spent years as a dedicated substitute and homebound teacher for Keystone Central.

She cherished trips to the shore, quiet hours in bookstores and lively card games with friends, but her deepest devotion was reserved for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Alfred; and her best friend and sister, Barbara.

Susan is survived by her siblings, Sonia (Alan) Hoffman and Shelah (Robert) Luber; sons, Eric and Keith; daughters-in-law, Melissa and Alie; many nieces and nephews; and her pride and joy, her "Pumpkin Pie," grandson Brandon.

Interment will take place at Beth Yehuda Cemetery, with an unveiling ceremony to coincide with the re-dedication of Hoberman Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to cancer research or your local public library.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC., 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
