Charles J. "Bud" Rote, of Flemington, Pa, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026 at Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport.
Bud was born on Dec. 23, 1935, at Teah Hospital in Lock Haven to Charles William and Kathleen Ann (Gallagher) Rote. He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1953 and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On June 4, 1958, he married Helen "Jean" Erdley. Together, they raised their family and built a life in the Lock Haven area.
Bud worked for Hammermill Paper Company, later International Paper, and subsequently at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
A skilled and hardworking builder, Bud built the family home and completed countless projects over the years. His talents extended well beyond his own home, as he was always willing to take on another project requested by his girls. Whether building, fixing or creating something special, Bud took pride in a job well done.
He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but some of his greatest joys came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bud was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lock Haven.
He is survived by his wife, Helen "Jean" (Erdley) Rote; his daughters, Theresa (Scott) Davis and Jacqueline (the late Christopher) Bartlett; his grandchildren, Rheannon (Tyler) Shelow, Jillian Davis and Colby (Bria) Bartlett; two great-grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, Cooper.
