David F. Dumm, 88, of Swissdale, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 28, 1938, in Spangler, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Edna Lieb Dumm.
Dave graduated from Spangler High School in 1956 and went on to serve two years in the United States Army.
On April 25, 1959, he married the former Yvonne M. Legros at St. Bernard's Church in Hastings. Together, they shared 62 blessed years of marriage before her passing on May 21, 2021.
Following his hiring at Piper Aircraft, Dave and Yvonne moved to Lock Haven, where he worked for a short time before beginning a 22-year career with American Color & Chemical. He later worked for Hammermill Paper Company until its closing.
After the paper mill closed, Dave turned his passion for woodworking into a business of his own, establishing Dave's Custom Cabinets. Through his craftsmanship, he built and installed countless cabinets for homes and businesses throughout the local community.
Dave was a devoted and faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Lock Haven, where he attended St. Agnes Catholic Church. He served his church community as both an usher and a Eucharistic Minister and previously chaired the annual Holy Spirit Parish Fair. He took great pride in creating numerous woodworking and cabinetry pieces for the church. Dave was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1774.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Dave cherished the time he spent outdoors and was a proud member of the Northern Cambria Hunting Club. He was also a devoted Penn State football fan who enjoyed cheering on the Nittany Lions. Above all, Dave treasured the time he shared with his family. Known for his kind heart and generosity, he was always willing to give to others and was truly a wonderful neighbor to all who knew him.
He is survived by his five children, Barb (Mike) Sorgen and Joe (Jackie) Dumm, both of Swissdale; Mike (Sue) Dumm, of McElhattan; Anita (Ken) Bowes, of Bellefonte; and Kathy Muthler, of Mill Hall; two brothers, John (Gloria) Dumm, of Ohio and Bob Dumm, of Michigan; two sisters, Alice (Herbert) Smith, of Summerhill and Joanne Tucker, of Northern Cambria; a sister-in-law, Donna Dumm, of Ebensburg; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott, Jason, Amanda, Holly, Ashley, Chelsea, Matthew and Rebecca; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dave was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bill" and Donald Dumm.
