Grady Leiter, 75, of Loganton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.
He was a hardworking man, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a friend to so many. Raised in Sugar Valley, Grady built a life grounded in hard work, generosity and a willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed him.
Grady spent 43 years working as a union bricklayer, dedicating himself to his trade and taking pride in the work of his hands. He was the kind of man people could count on, whether they needed advice, a helping hand or someone who knew how to build or fix something. Friends, family and neighbors knew they could call on Grady for guidance or help building their homes. He was always willing to share his knowledge, his skills and his time.
His talents extended far beyond his years as a bricklayer. Grady had a special gift for woodworking and enjoyed creating things from furniture to toy barns and doll houses. Each piece reflected his craftsmanship and the care he put into everything he did.
Grady was also dedicated to his community, serving as a member of the local Lions Club and the Sugar Valley Historical Society.
Above all, family was at the heart of Grady's life. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Jane; his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, April; his daughter, Ann Snyder, and son-in-law, Daniel Snyder; his four grandchildren, Taylor, Lindsey, Sloan and Owen (Cheyenne); and his great-grandchild, Zoey, who held a special place in his heart.
Grady's love for family extended well beyond those related to him by blood. He welcomed his children's friends, his nieces and nephews and so many others as if they were his own. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his door was open to those who needed him. To many, he was more than a father, uncle or friend -- he was someone they could turn to for support, guidance and a helping hand.
Grady leaves behind a legacy built not only in the homes and projects he helped create, but also in the lives he touched. His hard work, generosity, craftsmanship and love for his family will live on through the many people who were fortunate enough to know him.
In keeping with Grady's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. He will be remembered privately and lovingly by the many family members and friends whose lives he touched.
