Ruth N. Nice, 88, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, 2026.
An RN and BSN, she spent more than 20 years educating nurses, including at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Ruth's faith guided her devotion to family, church and community. She chaired the prayer chain at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville and served St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore in numerous roles. Throughout her 58-year marriage to the Rev. Donald Nice, she remained deeply committed to church service.
Beyond the church, Ruth founded the Jersey Shore Girls Basketball Booster Club, served as its treasurer for four years, volunteered with the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery program and served on Upper Pottsgrove's Emergency Response Committee. She generously gave her time and talents to comfort families, encourage young athletes and support those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald G. Nice; a daughter, Ruth Ellen; and brother, John N. Volansky.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Horne (Randall), of Millington, Tenn.; a son, Jonathan Nice (Michelle Brynes), of Lansdale, Pa.; her granddaughters, Emily and Sarah Nice; and a nephew, John Michael Volansky.
A Life Tribute will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 24 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, Pa., with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery.
